Scavengers

Animals that feed on the remains of dead animals
are called scavengers like jackal, hyena, wild dogs,

etc.

Parasites

Parasites depend and live on or inside the body
of other living beings for food. The host organism

such animals.

Some animals like ticks, lice and flea live on the

surface of the host body. These animals are adapted

Adaptations For Protection

There are different types of adaptations that show how animals protect themselves
from danger.

1. Deer, rabbits and mice can protect themselves from danger and enemies by

running very fast.

2. Whales, elephants and hippos have thick skin which help them to protect
themselves from hot climate.

3. Cockroaches also have a hard outer body that protects them.

4. Animals like crabs and turtles have a hard shell that protects their inner
soft body from danger.

5. Porcupines have sharp spines as a shield from the enemies.

6. Summer sleep in animals such as snail, lizard and earthworm is called
aestivation and winter sleep in animals of polar regions is called

hibernation.

Some animals have unique characteristics. They blend or mix themselves with
their surroundings. This is called camouflage. There are many animals that

camouflage themselves while catching their prey or escaping from enemies.
