4. People who live in different places wear different types of clothes, according
to their tradition.The clothes of a person living in Punjab will be different

from that of a person living in Tamil Nadu.

5. Some people wear some special clothes for specific work. These are called
uniforms. The uniforms tell the profession of the persons. Examples are

postmen, lawyer, doctor, soldier, nurse, etc.

F ibres And Fabrics

Fabric is a woven or knitted cloth using
long hair-like threads called fibres. It can

be natural or synthetic. Fabric is stitched

Natural Fibres

Fibres which are obtained from plants and
animals are called natural fibres.

Example: wool from sheep, jute, linen and

cotton from plants and silk from silkworm.

Synthetic Or Man-made Fibres

Fibre made by man, i.e., which is not natural is called
synthetic or manmade fibre. Some examples of
synthetic fibres are nylon, polyester, rayon, terylene.

They never fade and last long. They can be stretched
easily, i.e., they are strong enough. They are waterproof

and wrinkle-free.
