Activity 13.3
Aim : To find out how solids dissolve in liquids.
Materials Required : A glass of water, a spoonful of sugar
Procedure : 1. Take a glass of water.
2. Mix a spoonful of sugar and stir it.
3. When you stir for some time, what

The solid that dissolve in a liquid is called solute. Water is called a universal solvent
as everything dissolves in it. There are some solids that dissolve in liquids. The liquid
in which a solid dissolves is called solvent. After dissolving the solute in the solvent, a
liquid is obtained. This liquid is called a solution.

Factual Study
Liquids like water, oil, soda fit inside the container they kept in. If you look at them
under a microscope, you’ll see that they have particles stick close together.
Let’s Pronounce Together
