Life Skills Activity
You can demonstrate the solar eclipse and lunar eclipse in class room. For that you need a torch
light (acting as the sun), a football (acting as the earth) and a table tennis ball (acting as the
moon). See the diagram below and perform the activity to demonstrate solar eclipse and lunar
eclipse.

Research and Development

Scientists who study about the sun, the moon, the stars and other heavenly bodies are known
as astronomers and this branch of science is known as astronomy. Is it possible to predict
the time and date of any eclipse if we know about the movement of the sun, the moon and the
earth? A book called the Panchang is used in India for such calculations and predictions. Find
