3. Press the bleeding side of the nose firmly with
your fingers. Ask the person to breathe through
the mouth.
4. The nasal region should be covered with ice
pack (ice in a piece of cloth).
5. Once the bleeding stops, give cool drinks and
juicy fruits to the patient.
6. In case of heavy bleeding, consult a doctor
immediately.

First Aid in Case of Poisoning
Ingestion of chemicals like detergents, nail paints, liquid cleaners, naphthalene balls,
etc., causes poisoning. The following steps should be taken:
1. The expired medicines should be disposed off immediately.
2. In case of ingestion of a chemical, the victim should be made to vomit immediately
and taken to a doctor.
3. The chemicals and medicines should be kept out of reach of children.
First Aid in Case of Insect Bite
1. Remove the insect’s sting from the bitten portion with a pair of tweezers.
2. Put ice cubes on the bitten area.
3. Apply an antiseptic cream.
4. A paste of baking soda can be applied in case of a bee sting.
5. Lemon juice or vinegar can be applied in case of a wasp sting.
First Aid in Case of Dog Bite
A dog bite also needs immediate attention because it can cause a dangerous disease
called rabies.
