Cover the wound with a clean cloth or bandage at least once a day. Keep the wound dry
and clean until it heals. This will help it heal faster. Sometimes, a wound gets infected
with germs. If a wound starts to get a lot of pus, or the area around becomes red, show it
to a doctor. The doctor will treat the wound to get rid of the germs.
Timely aid in case of cuts and wounds is important as it prevents the entry of germs into
it which may cause septic in the wound. No wound should ever be neglected, however,
minor it is.
The following points should always be kept in mind:
1. Wash your hands with soap and water before giving first aid to a wounded person.
2. Wash the area with water.
3. Dab it with an antiseptic solution on a clean cotton swab.
4. Cover the wound with a bandage to prevent
germs from getting into the wound and to First Aid
stop the bleeding.
5. In case, the bleeding does not stop, tie a
tight bandage above the wound to stop heavy
bleeding. Take help of doctor immediately.
6. Let the victim lie down and raise the bleeding Hospital
part at a higher level than the rest of the body.
7. Once bleeding stops, apply an antiseptic
cream and cover it with a bandage.
8. If the skin is cut by a dirty or a rusted object,
germs may enter and cause tetanus infection.
A very deep wound may require stitches.
An anti-tetanus injection helps prevent the
disease.

First Aid in Case of Nose Bleeding
On a hot and dry day, blood sometimes trickles down from the nose. Keep the following
points in mind in case of nose bleeding.
1. Loosen the clothing around the person’s neck.
2. The patient should be made to sit in a position such that the head is at a raised
level.
