4. Never throw water over fire caused by electricity
since water is good conductor of electricity and you

may get an electric shock.

5. Children should not be allowed to play with fire.

6. If somebody’s clothes catch fire, do not let him/her
run about as air would increase the flames.

7. The electrical wiring should be checked regularly

for any faults in them.

8. Wear cotton clothes while cooking. Do not wear
nylon clothes as they catch fire easily.

9. Children should light fire crackers in the presence of an elder.

10. Gas pipes should be replaced in time.

Putting Out Fire

1. If fire is caused by petrol, it should be
put out by throwing sand instead of
water. Petrol, being lighter than water,

floats on water and continues to burn.

2. Small fires can be extinguished by
throwing sand over them. Special fire
extinguishers can be used to put out
big fires.

3. If somebody catches fire, make him/

her roll on the floor or cover with a
blanket as it would cut the air supply
and extinguish the fire. You may also
use water.

4. In case of a massive fire, fire station
must be informed. They can put out

fire with their special equipment.
