get the disease?
Research and Development
1. Take an empty pack of chips or chocolate. Find out the quantity of proteins, carbohydrates,
calories present in it. Now compare it with any other nutritious food item. What do you
observe? Does eating junk food items really make you healthy?
2. Collect information about preventive measures taken by the government agencies to check
the spread of communicable diseases.
Field Trip
Visit a nearby hospital. Gather some more information about deficiency diseases from the doctor
or from the internet. Make a PPT or a slide show to generate more awareness among students
of your class and locality.
Yummy Activity
High in calcium, protein and probiotics, yogurt is a delicious and healthy food made from
fermented milk. Yogurt forms when the sugar lactose present in milk is fermented into lactic
acid due to the presence of good bacteria. Lactic acid lowers the pH in milk and makes it more
acidic and therefore, tangy. Acidity causes the proteins present in milk to coagulate and this
results in thick creamy texture. This is how you get a thick, creamy and tangy yogurt.
Prepare frozen yogurt with the help of your teacher or mother at home.
