Glossary


               •  Habitat               :  The  environment  in  which  an  organism  naturally  lives  and
                                          reproduces.

               •  Desert                :  Sandy lands with very little rainfall.
               •  Fresh water           :  Water in ponds, rivers and lakes.

               •  Ocean                 :  The largest habitat of the earth that contains salty water.
               •  Fins                  :  Organs of locomotion in fish.

               •  Gills                 :  Organs of respiration in fish.
               •  Adaptation            :  The modification of structure and function of an organ to adjust
                                          its habitat.
               •  Moulting              :  The process of shedding of old skin to replace it with the new skin

               •  Blubber               :  A thick layer of fat under the skin of animals that gives them warmth
               •  Aquatic animals  :  Animals living in water.

               •  Migration             :  In response to seasonal changes, animals move over to other places.
