• For measuring length, mass, time, capacity and temperature, in earlier days, people used to
depend on body parts and natural objects.
• Metre is the standard unit of measurement of length. Millimetre, centimetre and kilometres
are other units to measure length.
• Kilogram is the standard unit of measurement of mass. Milligram and gram are other units
of mass.
• Litre is the standard unit of measurement of capacity of liquids. Millilitre and kilolitre are
the other units to measure capacity.
• Second is the standard unit of measurement of time. Time can also be measured in minute,
hour, week, month and year.
• Kelvin is the standard unit of measurement of temperature. The other units that are used
