Noise Pollution

The unpleasant and loud sounds which cause irritation and discomfort to our ears is
called noise pollution.

Sounds from vehicles, loud speakers and television causes noise pollution. The bursting
sound that comes from firecrackers and sound from different machines which are used
for construction of roads and buildings are also sources of noise pollution.

Activity 8.3

Teacher will play different recorded sounds like
that of traffic horn, music, barking dog, rocket
launching sound, machine sounds and alarm

clocks tones. Students will identify the sounds
and also tell which sound would cause noise
pollution and why?

1. Noise pollution cause problems like hearing impairment, hypertension and rise in
blood pressure.

2. It also causes heart diseases and sleep disturbance.
